SEE Skills for Life Program – Tennant Creek

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) First Nations Program is an Australian Government initiative that provides free training in language, literacy, numeracy, and digital (LLND) skills to First Nations eligible Australians.

Our SEE First Nations Skills for Life Program combines learning with practical, everyday activities, helping participants build skills and confidence they can use in everyday life, further learning and employment.

Learning doesn’t always happen at a desk. Participants can build their LLND skills through a range of practical activities, including cooking, hospitality, creative activities and everyday tasks.

These activities provide opportunities to practise skills such as reading instructions, understanding measurements, communicating with others, using technology and working as part of a team.

How We Support Participants

The Saltbush SEE First Nations Arts and Literacy Project combines practical learning, mentoring and creative expression to help participants build confidence and develop skills for everyday life, further study and employment.

  • No Shame: Participants learn in a supportive and culturally safe environment that respects Aboriginal ways of learning and encourages confidence, connection and personal growth.
  • Support from Local Mentors: Our mentors provide personalised support to help participants achieve their individual goals, overcome barriers and stay engaged in learning.
  • Flexible Learning Opportunities: The program offers both accredited and non-accredited training, allowing participants to develop practical skills and work towards their personal, education and employment goals at their own pace.
