SEE First Nations Program

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) First Nations Program is an Australian Government initiative that provides free training in language, literacy, numeracy, and digital (LLND) skills to First Nations eligible Australians. The program helps First Nations people build the skills they need for work and further study.

In the Northern Territory, Saltbush Social Enterprises is delivering a new and unique SEE First Nations project—one of the first of many designed to make learning more practical, engaging, and culturally relevant.

Saltbush SEE First Nations Arts and Literacy Project

The Saltbush Social Enterprises SEE First Nations Arts and Literacy Project, integrates LLND learning with hands-on art skills. Many Aboriginal people are hands-on learners, and this approach allows participants to strengthen their reading, writing, and numeracy skills while also exploring creative expression.

The SEE First Nations Project features both a Women’s Art Tutor and a Men’s Art Tutor, working alongside experienced trainers and mentors to support participants in their education and artistic development. This holistic approach ensures a safe, supportive, and culturally appropriate learning environment that fosters confidence, communication, and digital literacy skills.

A Culturally Strong Approach to Learning

The Saltbush SEE First Nations Arts and Literacy Project provides a unique learning experience that respects and values Aboriginal ways of learning. The project:

  • Builds essential LLND skills through practical, arts-based learning.
  • Strengthens cultural identity and creative expression.
  • Creates opportunities for employment, further study, or pathways into the arts sector.
  • Provides personalised mentoring and tutoring to support participants’ individual learning goals.

By integrating arts and innovative methodologies into education, Saltbush Social Enterprises is offering Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory a fresh and culturally strong approach to learning. This program not only builds essential skills but also fosters community connections, creativity, and confidence.

Whether participants aim to enter the workforce, continue studying, or explore opportunities in the arts, the SEE First Nations Literacy and Arts Program provides a strong foundation for their future.
