Meet Dylan Peterson, a story of purpose and new beginnings.
Dylan Peterson is someone who came to Saltbush with a clear vision, to find a job that not only provided stability, but also allowed him to give back to the community.
From day one, Dylan stood out for his motivation and genuine desire to make a positive impact. He wasn’t just looking for any job, he wanted one where he could feel proud of what he was contributing to every day.
One of his first challenges was not having the necessary identification documents to begin applying for work. With a bit of guidance and support from his Mentor and the Saltbush Coordinator, UV Basnet, he was able to get everything sorted quickly. This was a crucial step that opened the door to a real job opportunity for Dylan.
During his time completing pre-employment training and a chat with the Moriarty Foundation sparked something, he left the session saying, “This could be my dream job.”
Inspired and focused, Dylan worked with his Mentor on interview techniques to help him feel confident and prepared for the next steps. During the month of August 2025, Dylan made a strong impression through his interview with JMF landing him a casual role as Community Coach.
In this role he supports young people through sport, mentoring and community engagement. His role includes delivering the JMF Curriculum in schools and community settings, promoting values like resilience, leadership and teamwork, and encouraging wellbeing through programs focused on nutrition and mindfulness.
He also helps coordinate with schools, local clubs and health organisations to ensure the program runs smoothly and has a positive impact.
Since starting, Dylan has received glowing feedback from JMF, they’ve praised his dedication and the positive energy he brings to the team every day.
This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Dylan, and Saltbush will continue to support him as he grows in his role and builds a future he’s proud of.
