Henri Peters

Henri was introduced to the Employment Services team as a teenager and participated in the Future Stars course in 2008. Since then, he has worked in various roles, from kitchenhand to cook, in restaurants, hotels, and a construction accommodation facility along the Central Arnhem Highway. Despite facing personal challenges that tested his motivation, Henri developed strong people skills and expanded his knowledge of the hospitality industry, particularly as he transitioned from working in small, remote kitchens to a bustling hotel in Darwin. Six years ago, he settled locally to be closer to his family and, with the support of Saltbush Employment Services, secured a full-time position at TFE Hotels. Through hard work, he became a valued team member, thriving in the industry.

Today, Henri serves as the Indigenous Liaison Officer for three TFE properties and is currently studying as Assistant Manager. He continues to collaborate with Saltbush Social Enterprises, helping Indigenous jobseekers transition into the workforce.

Henri reflects on his journey with pride, grateful for the support he’s received and committed to providing the same opportunities to others. Henri says “Saltbush Social Enterprises have always been there for me… I am proud to be able to work side by side and give other the same opportunities as I’ve been given in the past”.
